U@D is a web application designed and developed with the user input of staff and students, to replace the current paper system for monitoring attendance at the University of Dundee.
Teaching staff have to use signing sheets to record attendance, which have to be processed manually by admin staff, which also adds a risk of inaccuracies.
U@D provides a more efficient, more secure, more accessible, more available, and more reliable alternative to the paper system, and it is free!
Staff start their classes with a single click of a button. Students register their attendance by typing a four-digit number. Staff can view the attendance for any class, and the current attendance rate of each student, at any time.
The system automatically sends emails to students who have missed classes.
